The Japanese Science and Technology (JST) Center offers nine virtual science lessons that cover topics in physics, biology, psychology, geography and space science. Each virtual lesson presents a manageable chunk of information followed by activities in which students apply what they have learned. Each lesson also has multiple parts (some have more than 20 parts) and multiple activities.
One of JST’s virtual lessons is Earth Guide, an eight-part lesson about Earth’s place in the Solar System and Earth’s environment. Each of the eight parts features multiple forms of information. Mind Lab focuses on biology and psychology. The lesson is designed to engage students in thinking about the ways in which they perceive what they see. Mind Lab has four introductory videos about the way in which we absorb information and how perceptions may not be reali ty. For example, one activity from Mind Lab helps students discover their “blind spots” and teaches them how people sometimes become oblivious to their blind spots. Other virtual lessons include: A New Door to the Future – The Human Genome The Mysteries of the Body – What Is This “I”? The Search for ET! – Are Humans Alone in the Universe? The Search for Energy Transmission in Sports The Physics of the Amusement Park Look into the World of Rust How Optical Communication Works

"MasteryConnect has created a new education service that takes a pinboard-based approach to social sharing, with a focus on tools and tips for teaching Common Core State Standards.
The service, Resource Pins, is a free tool for K-12 teachers modeled on Pinterest. It allows teachers to create and share individual teaching resources and build collections of tools like lesson plans, visual aids, tips and techniques and a range of other materials. The service had been running a limited pilot prior to this rollout. According to the company, more than 10,000 posts had been made within the first few weeks of the pilot." You can experiment and find which resources work best with your students. You can share resources for specific standards, thus making it so much easier to find the lesson materials you're looking for without sifting through endless resources. You now have a social platform just for you and for your fellow teachers. You can narrow your search down by grade and subject, and then to the individual standard, From their website, grab the bookmarklet below and pin from anywhere on the web to your account.
